Pioneer TS-A879 3-½" 2-Way Coaxial Speaker
The TS-A879 is a 2-way coaxial 3-½" speaker. Its Injected Molded Polypropylene woofer cone stands up to the harsh in-car environment while providing natural sounding tonal qualities with an OPEN & SMOOTH transition to the polyetherimide Tweeter. The TS-A879 is an A Series speaker. All A series speakers share the OPEN & SMOOTH design concept and are voiced to sound great together.
A Series
The highly efficient design of the Pioneer A Series speakers intentionally matches the subwoofer and full-range loudspeakers to provide seamless and smooth sound characteristics, with dynamic, high-impact bass that lets you hear and feel the music. Pioneer's OPEN & SMOOTH sound concept ensures a seamless transition between the midrange and tweeter drivers, delivering a uniform off-axis frequency response optimized for automotive applications, where one or more speakers are often aimed away from the listeners' ears. The A Series lineup enhances audio details and improves acoustic performance.
Easy Installation
This speaker is designed as a direct OEM speaker replacement in many vehicles including Toyota, Dodge, Chevrolet, Chrysler and more.
Learn Which Speakers Fit Your Car
Listening to your music is a big part of enjoying your drive to the fullest. By replacing your factory 2-3/4 or 3-1/2” speakers with Pioneer’s 2-way coaxial speakers, you can recreate your music with better clarity and improved range of sound. Both TS-A709 and TS-A879 speakers are designed to allow easy OEM replacement in many vehicles including Toyota, Dodge, Chevrolet, Chrysler and more. Loud & Clear
These speakers are as efficient, if not more efficient, than the stock speakers found in typical cars on the market. They allow you to enjoy a coherent sound without missing any details and without exaggerated response, providing improved precision and more details across the entire audio bandwidth. Their high efficiency also enables you to enjoy exceptional sound from low power sources, and their ability to handle high power allows you to connect them to an external amplifier, letting them shine even more!
Open & Smooth
Pioneer’s OPEN & SMOOTH sound concept ensures a seamless and smooth transition between the midrange and tweeter drivers, delivering a uniform off-axis frequency response. This design is optimized for automotive applications where one or more speakers are often aimed away from the listeners’ ears.
Carbon and Mica Reinforced IMPP™ Cone
An extremely rigid yet lightweight cone is essential to avoid cone failure and distortion under high power. Pioneer’s IMPP™ composite cones meet this need perfectly. CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) was applied to create a curvilinear cone with varying thicknesses during the injection process, maintaining a balance between lightness (responsiveness) and rigidity (precise audio and tight bass). To further improve this rigidity-to-weight ratio, Pioneer uses an advanced process that integrates different materials, such as carbon and mica, which resonate at different frequencies, creating a perfectly balanced cone across the entire bandwidth.
Polyetherimide (PEI) Hard Dome Tweeter
Polyetherimide can withstand high temperatures while maintaining stable electrical and mechanical properties over a wide frequency range. Its strength-to-weight ratio makes it ideal for high-frequency vibrations of the dome and thermal management of the voice coil. This hard dome tweeter is designed with a front diffuser to maintain perfect audio balance during the transition from on-axis to off-axis listening, providing a balanced sound source between different audio points in the car.
Keep it Simple and Clean
These speakers use an in-line crossover design and/or an integrated crossover already installed on the speaker basket. This eliminates the need for a bulky external box typically found with passive crossovers, saving space and reducing extra wiring for integrating the woofer and tweeter in the vehicle.
